Notes

Do not be misled by the name. This is the Chicago tribute band Adam And The Antz, who released 100 (handwritten no./100 on side A) white label 7" singles of Young Parisians c/w Lady. Not only did they mimic the sound of Adam's original, but they also had the nerve to copy the sleeve.

The only ways of spotting the difference are a broken/smudged black line to the right of Adam's head on the front cover, the back cover replaces "Made In England" and "Sleeve printed in England" with "Made In Chicago" and "Sleeve printed in Chicago", and the back and front are only joined at the bottom of the sleeve.

Inside this "open" jacket is a plain white 7" sleeve with a hole displaying the white label. The A side of the label has the number of the pressing (out of 100) hand-written onto it.This issue has Light Blue Injection Moulded labels.
Track durations not listed, "Ant Music" written under the A. Made with a Large hole and Ridges around the label like most of the Re-issue IML labels.
Illustration has white line on Dave Barbes temple.

(P) 1978 The Decca Record Co. Ltd
Made in England
Sleeve printed in England

Band name written as Adam & The Ants on the label.

Note re issues:
This original release was issued with a thick white glossy card sleeve rather than the paper ones that came with the reissues. The original is also easy to differentiate as there isn't a white line from Dave Barbe's right temple to the edge of the sleeve as there was on the 1980 release.

Initial copies came with a one sided Decca press release that fitted into the sleeve.

The IML (Injection Moulded Label) has C.Control written below the large A on the left hand side and along with the font being more compact than the later release the time of the song is also in brackets which was omitted from repressings.

Hi,This 7" is NOT by the Original Ants as stated, but this is a Chicago impersonators one. Some years ago I had an e-mail-chat with Weasel Walter, one of the members of those Adam and The Ants Chicago Impersonators:Weasel Walter : “Hello. my band (The Flying Luttenbachers) made a replica of the "young parisians" single as part of a project of reconstructing the Ants chronology. we also recorded the group's first two peel sessions, which were broadcast on the same dates as the originals, twenty years later. Brian Ladd is a friend of the singer from our band, which explains the "ladd-frith" listing. the vocals are by Scott Gibbons, all instruments on the record were by myself except the bass and guitar on "young parisians", which was by Dylan Posa. There is no official label for the release and it has a blank white label. the cover was a xeroxed version of the original ants sleeve - the only difference is that ours says "made in chicago" on it.”

Hey, you're right. I used to email with Scott Gibbons many years ago, before they even made this record. He sent me a VHS of one of their concerts and they were brilliant. I understand playing those gigs but I will never understand ehy one would re-record something and not even try to change some of it. Playing it 1:1 is just useless. Still we have to have this in our ant-collections ;-) Cheers from GermanyFormi ]:)
