Formed in 2003, the band's debut album Genesis was released in 2007, peaking at No. 54 on the US Billboard 200 and selling 13,000 copies in its first week of release. The second album, 2009's Ruination, sold 10,600 copies in the United States in its first week to debut at position No. 42 on the Billboard 200 chart. Doom is the first EP by Job for a Cowboy, released on November 11, 2005 through the King of the Monsters label. It achieved most attention after being re-released on major record label, Metal Blade Records in 2006. Album 2005 7 Songs. More By Job for a Cowboy. Whether the band deserved such attention is debatable. Doom is competent, but trades in sounds, not songs, and is ultimately forgettable. A throwaway cinematic intro leads to a barrage of blastbeats, serviceable death metal riffs, and hardcore punk breakdowns - an amalgamation now commonly called deathcore. Jonny Davy's vocals alternate between grating mid-range yells and absurdly low growls the latter are often dubbed pig squeals, or, onomatopoeically, brees. Job For a Cowboy made quite a splash with their demo alone and promised to become a quite powerful band in today's metal scene. While they do lack creativity to a degree how many other bands are playing death metal grind and metalcore at once these days they do what they do exceptionally well.
