Info

The album that defines the idea of 'greater than the sum of its parts' is Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. It's one of the few Beatles albums without a 1 hit. I think there are several other albums they produced with stronger song lists. But if you want a representation of what the '60's were all about in an album format, this is it. Dylan's Blood On The Tracks is greater than the sum of its parts in a different way than Pepper is. With Pepper it's a matter of its being perhaps the greatest Beatles album even though its song list isn't as strong as. The album's only saving grace is the cover of Tritonal's Still With Me, a wonderfully haunting piece with a beautifully restrained vocal from Bo Bruce. The Disco Citizens remix exists here although it's been a long time since. If Somersault felt like a watered down, poppy version of Chicane, Giants wasn't the return to form people were hoping for, and Thousand Yard Stare was a bit of a mid-life crisis attempt to sound like someone a lot 'cooler', they all, at least, sounding like Nick Bracegirdle was trying. Sum of its Parts, it sounds like he's given up. No effort is evident on this album, just depressingly generic club music punctuated by poor attempts at ambient. Like teamwork. People working together are routinely able to do more work than if their individual efforts were added together. I recently heard it said that jazz the music is greater than the sum of its parts individual musicians. The musicians working together, feeding off one another, and creating more than they would by themselves, create something that is greater than all it really should be, if that makes any sense. A whole bird, she reminded me, was cheaper per pound, and Id get the added bonus of the back, neck and gizzards, which I could simmer into stock. And had I procured a whole bird, we could be sautéing the liver in rosemary-infused olive oil right then and there for a mother-daughter snack. I prefer cutting the bird into eighths rather than tenths, keeping the breasts whole. White meat cooks faster than dark, so leaving the breasts in large hunks helps ensure that everything finishes in the same amount of time. You can use your cut-up chicken to make this ginger-and-lime-scented curry with coconut milk, sweet potatoes and chiles. Also translated as The whole is greater than the part, this quote is about how much better things are together than as pieces. The idea is used heavily in Synergy and Gestalt as well as in non-linear fields. It is also used by people looking for something somewhat cryptic to say to sound smart. This quote reminds us that what one can do, many can do better. At least in most cases. Why is being part of the whole important Any one modern invention is nice, but a phone without electricity isnt good for very long. In human terms, the quote is about being more by being part of a group. One person can do a lot, but more people can devote themselves to different tasks. Directed by David Boreanaz. With Emily Deschanel, David Boreanaz, Michaela Conlin, Tamara Taylor. The milestone 100th episode takes viewers back in time six years as Brennan and Booth recount the first case they worked on together. With Sweets finishing his book on their partnership, Brennan and Booth take this opportunity to set the record straight. A young and rebellious FBI Agent Booth seeks the help of an team of anthropological scientists and a street artist to find the evidence that. the-whole-is-greater-than-the-sum-of-the-parts-200166786. Diversification: The Whole Is Greater Than The Sum Of The Parts. By David Fabian Nov 28, 2016 04:06AM ET. The more diversified you are, the greater chance you are going to own some investments that are doing well and others that are falling behind. These trends can often extend for very long periods of time. Just look at the 5-year returns of stocks, bonds, and commodities through the lens of diversified exchange-traded funds. The performance of each asset class varies widely. SPY Daily Chart. The machine's value is only the value of the parts when it hasn't been put together correctly. However, once it is constructed, those parts in this configuration have greater value because the machine has gained additional utility. However, the phrase you quote is the reverse of this. It suggests that the value of a thing goes down when it is arranged in certain configurations. An example might be a creative team. Each member of the team contributes creativity, but comes with some organizational overhead. Three or four creative people can do great things together, but thirty or forty. The Parts in the Sum of the Whole is the sixteenth episode of the fifth season of Bones, and the 100th episode of the series overall. Booth and Bones walk to the office carrying manuscripts of Sweets' book. They talk about how Sweets has his facts wrong. Bones explains that the first case the two worked on together is not the one mentioned in the book. Booth is disappointed. He thought the mistake was the whole 'love thing', but Bones doesn't care about that. Inside, Sweets is aghast. Turns out his
