Info
This Note's for You is the 16th studio album by Canadian, American musician Neil Young, released on April 11, 1988 on Reprise. Part of the album's concept centered on the commercialism of rock and roll, and tours in particular. The music is marked by the use of a horn section. It also marked Young's return to the recently reactivated Reprise Records. Hi, this is Neil. Link to the NYA info-card for this song with press, documents, manuscripts, photos, videos. A song like Sunny Inside, with its marching rhythm and charging horn charts, seemed to demand a forceful, gritty singer on the order of Wilson Pickett, and Young's watery tenor just didn't cut it. But the album was only half up-tempo numbers the other half was bluesy ballads for which Young's singing was effective and on which he sounded more personally involved than he had in years.
